150 Sights To See (And Rumors To Hear) In Absalom

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Absalom is the City in The Center of The World. A place that has stood since ancient times, it's said that the whole of the Inner Sea revolves around the decisions made within the soaring spires, and that even a stone thrown in the gutters can ripple out into the world in unexpected ways. There are sights to see in Absalom that would be wondrous anywhere else, but which are little more than background noise to the residents of this metropolis.

If your party finds themselves wandering the streets of this fantastical place, use some of the following sights to drive home that you really can find anything here. And if you're looking for rumors to build your next plot arc on, there are plenty of those to follow as well!

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Large numbers of guards have been stationed seemingly at random throughout the Merchant's Quarter. Rather than enforcing any rules or standards, however, they seem to be guarding empty alleys and otherwise abandoned buildings. Whispers suggest that gateways into the shadow city are springing open unexpectedly, and that until it stops the guard is going to be far more vigilant than usual so it can get out ahead of any problems before they can get out of control.
  • Moaning whispers have been heard from the mouths of several defunct fountains in the quarter for months now. Some say it's ghosts trying to make themselves heard, while others believe it's merely a result of misfiring magic set loose during the quake and the fall of the great towers. A minority of folk in the district, though, think the voices belong to people who've gotten lost beneath the streets (or who were dragged there by something) who are searching for a way out.
  • The water level in the Puddles has been noticeably higher of late. While there's plenty of people who simply write this off as the district sinking even further down, there are others who believe there's something in the Siphons that's blocking what little drainage the Puddles actually receives. Whether the blockage is caused by simple detritus that washed in on the tide, or by something a little more deliberate, is the source of rather heated debates in several quarters. While many people are arguing about it, nobody's been brave enough to go down and see for themselves.
  • Dozens of homes throughout the district have had small items go missing over the past few weeks. Nothing truly valuable or irreplaceable has been taken, but the missing item always causes some annoyance (a belt that fit perfectly, a favorite bookmark and so on). While any one incident might be garden variety forgetfulness, some claim this is a new training task set for the acolytes of the Guild of Wonders. It seems absurd, but given the relatively harmless results it could (at least in theory) have been approved by the council as an allowed activity within Absalom.
  • Down a back alley in a surprisingly large basement there is a library of necessities referred to by most simply as the Shed. Originally started by Deriande Longsong, an elvish practitioner of what she calls practical philosophy, the Shed has tools for carving stone and wood, materials for painting and sewing and even work stations for those who need a private place to focus and compose their thoughts. Individuals who may not need such tools regularly, but who do need them occasionally, can borrow them from the Shed, returning them once their job is done. Those who've mastered the use of these tools often hold workshops to pass their skills on to those in the community, ensuring that knowledge is passed on, and that people who want to learn new skills can do so without barriers getting in their way.

Shouldn't this be on Pathfinder Infinite, since it uses Paizo properties?

It is on Pathfinder Infinite (https://www.pathfinderinfinite.com/product/390402/150-Sights-To-See-And-Rumors-To-Hear-In-Absalom), but every supplement can be found on any OBS site.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
