Just finished the Beginner Box and will be using this to help with Abomination Vault.

Minor Suggestion: At the end of the Menace Under Otari, treasure from the Kobold Warrens includes a painting of an adventurer on a horse. You suggest the first letter from Zacchaeus Quagmire III replaces the treasure map that is part of the Kobold Dragonkeepers stash in the next room. I would suggest either change the painting to be of a tiger (and perhaps update the abomination vaults to have this painting missing) or change the first letter to reference a horse / horses. It doesn't really explain how the painting and letter got here, but at least sharp players can draw some conclusions from that and leave one less mystery (especially since it will be a long time before they get the next letter).

This is a GM's extensive and detailed notes on changes they made to the Abomination Vaults adventure when they ran it. Even if you don't want to implement their ideas, if you're thinking of running the Abomination Vaults for the first time I highly recommend paying the author some amount of money and looking through it. The ideas within will help you come up with your own perfect game.

There is a long series of typos in the "Letters of Dr. Zacchaeus Quagmire III". Starting from the fourth letter and on you start to put the wrong letter for the locations. Thankfully I can guess the right floors but you might want to correct this in the future.

These are not typos; I was using the three-book version of the adventure, in which each book starts with its first map labeled A. Floor 5 is B in the second book (because there is a small map for the Smuggler's Cove beforehand which is labeled A); floor 6 is C, and floor 7 is D. Then in the final book it starts over again, so floors 8, 9, and 10 are labeled A, B, and C once more, respectively. Someone using the hardback compilation will have to make the adjustment, which is hopefully simple enough.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
